Ali Asghar heads up Lazard’s Dubai office focusing on mergers and acquisitions, fund raising and restructuring. He has over 15 years of experience in senior management & strategy, as well as investment banking, private equity and consulting. He has advised some of the leading private equity funds and corporates in the MENA region.
Prior to Lazard, Ali spent over 7 years within the Internet and wireless industries at Mobile Satellite Ventures (now Skyterra) and America Online. At AOL, he was the General Manager for the Alternative Broadband Group, responsible for licensed and unlicensed wireless initiatives and broadband over power line and Executive Director for Mergers and Acquisitions and Corporate Development.
Prior to that, Ali spent over 7 years as a banker, venture capitalist and consultant at Morgan Stanley, Warbug Pincus and McKinsey. He has worked on a number of transactions including the acquisitions of Broadcast.com by Yahoo, Mede America by Healtheon, and multiple financings and investments including for LTV steel.
He holds a B.A. in Finance and a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, a MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration and an AM Middle Eastern Studies from the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
